Results from the La Primitiva draw held on Thursday, August 20, have been published, along with guidance on collecting prizes. Information from El Confidencial, the winning combination was 1, 9, 20, 22, 37 and 45, with 2 as the complementary number and 9 as the reintegro. The Joker number was 7223901. Prize claims follow different procedures depending on the amount. Prizes exceeding €40,000 are subject to a 20% withholding by Spain’s tax authority, the Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria. Winnings below €2,000 can be collected at authorized lottery retailers, while larger prizes are processed through designated banks such as BBVA or CaixaBank. The collection route can also depend on whether a ticket was bought in person or online.
Joker is a separate seven-digit feature linked to a La Primitiva ticket. Matching all seven digits in the correct order wins €1 million. The draw is broadcast from 21:40 on the official Loterías y Apuestas del Estado website, and El Confidencial also reports the results.
The next La Primitiva draw is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, at 21:40. Players should check their tickets and follow the applicable claim procedures, including the tax treatment of larger prizes. The lottery dates back to 1763. It was suspended in 1862 and reinstated in 1985.
For those interested in other major events in Spain this August, the country is also set to witness a rare astronomical phenomenon, as the Perseids meteor shower coincides with a total solar eclipse. Details are available in a recent report on Spain's upcoming night sky events.
La Primitiva continues to draw public interest with its jackpots and straightforward format. Its traditional draw and additional features such as Joker give players different ways to win. Participants are encouraged to play responsibly and consult Loterías y Apuestas del Estado for current results and prize-claim information.
