Lepas is about to launch the L4 and L6, two electric SUVs aimed at growing its reach in Spain. With sharp looks, strong tech, and solid specs, these models are set to challenge the big names and raise the bar for electric SUVs.
When Lepas showed off the L4 and L6 in Spain, it was clear the brand wanted more than a supporting role in the country’s electric SUV market. These two models, revealed with the L8, are set to become the core of Lepas’s Spanish lineup. Both the L4 and L6 are due by the end of the year, with full sales planned for early 2027. Leading Spanish automotive outlets report that this move is part of Chery Group’s bigger plan to make Lepas a global brand. The L8 is already open for pre-orders in several European countries, including Spain.
This launch stands out for its timing and its ambition. Lepas, under Chery Group, is moving past its first hybrid SUV and betting on a wider range to reach more buyers. The L8 stays as the flagship, but the L6 and L4 are meant to fill the middle and entry-level spots. Each brings its own take on size, space, and tech. Both the L4 and L6 will launch as fully electric SUVs, each with a WLTP range of about 450 km, a 65 kWh LFP battery, and fast charging up to 120 kW, according to several independent reviews.
Lepas plans to expand its Spanish dealer network to 52 locations by the end of 2026, signaling a commitment to mass-market presence rather than a limited rollout.
Design and space
The L6 is 4.57 meters long, with sharp LED headlights and a design called Leopard Aesthetics. It sits right in the C-segment, giving a strong presence without being oversized. Inside, the L6 has a simple dashboard, a 13.2-inch vertical multimedia screen, and an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor and comes with a voice assistant, showing Lepas’s focus on tech-minded buyers. Rear passengers get a flat floor and good knee and headroom, thanks to a 2.70-meter wheelbase. The main boot holds 410 liters, which can grow to 1,334 liters with the seats down, plus another 99 liters under the floor. Independent analysts say this setup is meant to compete directly with top C- and B-segment electric crossovers in Europe.
The L4 is the entry model in the Lepas range. It measures 4.42 meters, making it 15.5 centimeters shorter than the L6, but it keeps the same wheelbase, so the cabin stays roomy. The L4’s look leans even more into its electric side, with a closed front and stylized lights. Buyers can pick two-tone paint and special wheel designs, aiming to catch the eye of younger drivers. The cabin matches the L6’s layout, with the same digital screens and tech. The L4 actually offers a bigger main boot at 458 liters—48 more than the L6—plus 34 storage spaces and a small front trunk, though its exact capacity for Spain is still not listed.
The European debut of the Lepas brand took place at Milan Design Week in April 2026, preceding the official Spanish launch and signaling the brand’s pan-European ambitions. This early reveal was followed by coordinated announcements across multiple European markets, positioning Lepas as a key player in Chery Group’s global expansion strategy.
Powertrains and performance
Both the L4 and L6 use the LEXP platform and will launch with almost the same mechanical setup. Buyers will get a choice between plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and full electric, with self-charging hybrids possibly coming later. The PHEV system, already in the L8, puts out 279 horsepower and uses an 18.4 kWh battery, giving up to 90 kilometers of electric-only range. For the pure electric versions, the L4 has a 218-horsepower motor with 275 Nm of torque, does 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and tops out at 170 km/h. Its 65 kWh LFP battery is rated for 450 kilometers (WLTP), with fast charging up to 120 kW—enough to go from 30% to 80% in about 22 minutes. The L6’s electric version is almost identical, with a 217-horsepower motor and the same battery and charging specs. Both models come with V2L bidirectional charging, able to supply up to 3.3 kW to outside devices. The L6 also gets electric power steering and a Bosch IBP 2.0 braking system, tuned for European roads. Sector reports say plug-in hybrid versions of the L4 and L6 are expected after the first electric launch, likely in 2027, to widen the appeal for Spanish buyers.
Market position and strategy
Lepas’s move to launch two models with such close specs but different sizes is a clear strategy. The L6 is for families who need more space. The L4 is for city drivers who want a smaller car but don’t want to give up comfort inside. Still, with performance so close, buyers may end up choosing based on price and size more than how the cars drive. Early signs point to the L4 starting at around 25,000 euros, with the L6 between 30,000 and 35,000 euros before discounts, though official prices are not out yet. Several Spanish automotive outlets report that Lepas wants to cover several price and size spots in the SUV market, setting itself apart from other Chery Group brands and avoiding overlap.
This puts Lepas up against both established brands and new challengers. The focus on design, tech, and value is clear, but the real test will come when Spanish drivers get behind the wheel. As reported earlier, the L4’s smart use of space and storage already sets a new standard for compact electric SUVs in Spain.
With the L8, L6, and L4, Lepas is no longer just a one-model brand. The company now covers a wide stretch of the Spanish SUV market, sharing tech but pushing hard on design and practicality. The challenge is to show buyers that Lepas brings more than just another version of familiar tech. If the brand can deliver on quality, space, and price, it could shake up Spain’s electric SUV market. For now, all eyes are on Lepas as it gets ready to move from newcomer to real contender.
