Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi attended the Academy Museum Gala with cast members from La bola negra. Taylor Swift performed during the evening, where the Spanish group mingled with major Hollywood names.

Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi joined cast members from La bola negra at the sixth Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, 17 October 2026. The event raises money for exhibitions and screenings at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and funds educational programmes. The Spanish group also mingled with Taylor Swift and other Hollywood names.

Miguel Bernardeau and Guitarricadelafuente were among the actors there. Milo Quifes and Carlos González also joined Calvo and Ambrossi.

Other attendees included Kim Kardashian, Pamela Anderson and Jessica Lange, as well as Ana de Armas and Kate Hudson. Sofia Vergara and Jamie Lee Curtis attended, as did Kendall Jenner and Kylie Minogue.

Swift wore Dior and performed a song from Toy Story 5 along with a selection of her hits, People reported. The publication also said she wore platinum Chopard diamond earrings weighing 32.40 carats in total. Some cast members posted photographs from the event on social media, showing the directors with the actors and other international celebrities. Vanitatis reported that Quifes shared a video of the group dancing and singing during Swift’s performance.

La bola negra began its international run at the Festival de Cannes and has continued its campaign abroad. The film draws on Federico García Lorca’s unfinished work and is directed by Calvo and Ambrossi, known together as Los Javis. Glenn Close and Penélope Cruz are among its cast. It opened in Spanish cinemas on 25 September 2026, and its US theatrical release began on the Friday before the gala.

On 16 September 2026, the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences selected La bola negra to represent Spain in the Best International Feature Film category at the next Oscars. The selection makes it Spain’s candidate, not a final nominee. The film must first make the 15-title shortlist, then secure one of the five nomination spots. The 2027 Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for 14 March at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

The film’s story and settings have also featured in related coverage. The directors are campaigning for the film in the United States, and the Academy Museum Gala was part of the team’s promotional visit. It was not an Oscar nomination event.

Calvo and Ambrossi previously reached Spanish audiences with La llamada. Speaking from New York, Calvo said the next stage was for people in Spain who follow and support their work. Ambrossi described returning to a place connected with their early acting studies as an emotional experience.
