Javier Blanco, head of eMobility for Daimler Truck in Spain, spoke at the event. He laid out how Mercedes-Benz plans to cut emissions in logistics. Blanco’s talk put the electric truck deal front and center in Europe’s debate over greener transport.
According to independent industry sources, Amazon has already put the first 27 Mercedes eActros 600 electric trucks into operation in Germany, with more than 50 expected in the German network by the end of 2026.
Experts at the Zaragoza forum looked at how freight can move away from diesel and toward cleaner energy. They discussed real steps for cutting carbon in transport. Mercedes-Benz’s deal with Amazon was a clear example. Sector publications covering the IAA 2026 describe the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 as a flagship long-haul electric truck. It can go about 500 km on a charge and supports ultra-fast charging. The company is also working on battery-electric, hydrogen, and advanced diesel trucks. Each option targets a different need in freight decarbonization.
Not every company is moving at the same speed. But Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to Amazon stands out. Delivering 200 electric trucks to the UK is a big step. Mercedes-Benz used the event to push for faster adoption of electric trucks in commercial fleets. Industry reports say Mercedes-Benz Trucks will offer megawatt charging (MCS) for the eActros 600 starting in 2027. The standard CCS interface will stay in use. That’s key for keeping trucks on the road with less downtime.
To support the deployment of heavy-duty electric trucks, Amazon is rolling out charging infrastructure at its European sites, with hundreds of truck charging points already in place. Charging the eActros 600 from 10% to 80% takes approximately 70 minutes, according to sector publications.
This move by Mercedes-Benz and Amazon is a clear signal. Big players are not waiting for new rules to act on sustainability.
