Security footage from a private car park in Rivas-Vaciamadrid helped identify a man accused of breaking vehicle windows with a fire extinguisher and stealing valuables. The footage reportedly showed him arrive quickly and smash a window, then enter the passenger compartment before leaving with items from inside.
The 42-year-old was arrested on 15 October, after the Guardia Civil’s Rivas Vaciamadrid post received a telephone report of a theft from a parked vehicle. Officers deployed nearby and found him on a neighbouring street shortly afterward. Investigators later linked him to 12 alleged vehicle break-ins in the municipality between 4 and 15 October, involving vehicles parked in public areas.
Information from the reported method, the suspect broke a window and took valuables before leaving quickly. The Guardia Civil also described him as having numerous prior police records for offences against property.
After the investigation, the man appeared before the competent judicial authority, which ordered his provisional imprisonment. This is a pretrial decision, not a final determination of guilt.
