The Argentine president is due at Fundación Disenso during Vox's pre-campaign. Abascal is travelling between La Coruña and Avilés, while Milei's Madrid schedule includes a meeting with Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

Milei is due at Fundación Disenso after morning economics events at Madrid's Real Casino Gran Círculo and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Wednesday's programme, 21 October, starts at Nueva Economía Fórum. It also includes a meeting with economist Jesús Huerta de Soto, followed by the opening of the university's conference on Austrian economics. Santiago Abascal will be campaigning elsewhere. This is the first of Milei's seven visits to Spain as president without a meeting between the two.

Abascal began Vox's pre-campaign with a rally in Ponferrada, León, on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he is due to travel between La Coruña and Avilés, Asturias, as Vox campaigns ahead of the early general election scheduled for 29 November 2026. Vox sources said Abascal told Milei by phone before the trip that his «ambiciosa agenda» would make a meeting impractical. There will be no photograph of the two leaders during the campaign.

Milei arrived in Spain on Tuesday for a private visit, his seventh since taking office in December 2023. He is due to speak first at Foro Nueva Economía, at the Real Casino Gran Círculo de Madrid. Later, he will meet economist Jesús Huerta de Soto at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He will also speak at the launch of the university's Master's Degree in Austrian Economics. Argentine media reported that the conference was being held for the tenth time.

His appearance at Fundación Disenso, Vox's think tank, is the visit's main political event. The engagement was added to the programme shortly before the trip. Abascal is not expected to attend. Milei will meet Vox secretary-general Ignacio Garriga and the foundation's director, Jorge Martín Frías. RUSSPAIN has separately reported on an Ibiza airport disruption during a red weather alert.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso is also due to meet Milei. He has never met Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whom he regards as «blando» and lacking firm convictions. Milei has also attacked Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, recently accusing him of «traicionar a su propio pueblo» over the Ceuta crisis. He called Sánchez the leader of «un régimen socialista que está destruyendo» Spain. No meeting with Sánchez or representatives of Spain's central government is on the Madrid programme.

Milei has made no official visit to Spain, nor has he made a state visit. Spanish officials have described the current trip as private. Such visits became unfeasible after he called Begoña Gómez, Sánchez's wife, «corrupta» at an event organised by Vox in May 2024. Spain subsequently withdrew its ambassador from Buenos Aires. The breakdown in relations with Sánchez also complicates the chances of Milei attending the Ibero-American Summit, scheduled in Madrid for early November.

La Nación quoted Gabriela Ortega Jarrín, a communications scholar at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, on the possible political effect of the trip.

That photograph will not be taken during this visit.
