CCOO and UGT say more than 3,600 workplace groups have backed the 24-hour strike scheduled for 11 November. The endorsements span major companies and public services.

Representatives from universities and schools, as well as hospitals and care homes, are among those backing the proposed stoppage. By 4 November, CCOO and UGT reported more than 3,600 endorsements from workplace committees, public-service staff boards and union sections. The unions said the backing could bring thousands of workplaces to a halt.

The list includes representatives from Seat and Airbus, alongside Levi Strauss and Iberia. Zara, Glovo, DomusVi and Securitas Seguridad España are also named. Unions from around the world have joined the campaign, along with social organisations from across Spain. The Tenants’ Union estimated that more than 4,000 workplace committees across a broader coalition, including CGT, Intersindical, CCOO and UGT, support the action.

The 24-hour strike is scheduled to run from midnight to midnight on 11 November 2026 under the slogan “Salarios. Vivienda. Precio” (“Wages. Housing. Prices”). It is the first joint general strike by Spain’s two largest unions in 14 years and is coordinated with housing-rights mobilisations. CCOO and UGT say the action is intended to press for access to decent housing and wages that keep pace with rising prices. Their demands include general wage increases of 4% to 7% and a rise of at least 7% in the 2027 statutory minimum wage, alongside measures to contain rents, expand public and protected housing, and strengthen safeguards against evictions. They are also calling for stronger public services, including more capacity in healthcare and education and improved dependency care.

The unions say thousands of workplaces could be affected, with disruption expected across public transport, aviation, roads, retail, hospitality and cultural institutions. In Navarra, CCOO and UGT scheduled information pickets and a demonstration in Pamplona at 17:30 on the strike day. The unions have also called for reduced working time, better occupational health and an end to precarious employment. They are urging workers to add their support through the campaign website.

CCOO and UGT have framed the action as a response to companies raising prices while business profits and margins continue to grow. They accuse employers’ association CEOE of blocking collective bargaining. UGT General Secretary Pepe Álvarez said the strike was aimed at the employers’ association over that alleged obstruction. Eurostat’s preliminary flash estimate put euro-area annual inflation at 4.0% in October, up from 3.8% in September. The figure is for the euro area, not Spain specifically.
