Jorge Martín and Aleix Espargaró, close friends and rivals on the MotoGP circuit, have each added a high-end SUV to their personal garages. Their latest acquisitions—a Mercedes-AMG G63 and a Lamborghini Urus Performante—reflect both their passion for cars and their success on the track.

Jorge Martín and Aleix Espargaró, two of MotoGP’s most recognizable names, have taken their friendship off the racetrack and into the world of luxury cars. This week, both riders visited an Andorran dealership to collect their latest automotive purchases, each opting for a powerful SUV that stands out even among elite collections.

For Aleix Espargaró, known for his extensive and enviable garage, the new addition is a Mercedes-AMG G63. Espargaró, who has previously showcased his passion for Porsche with rare models like the 911 GT3 RS (997 generation), has now chosen a vehicle that prioritizes space and presence. The all-black G63, with its unmistakable silhouette, is designed to handle family life in Andorra while still delivering the performance expected from the Mercedes-AMG badge. Under the hood, the G63 boasts a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, producing 585 horsepower and 860 Nm of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h—impressive figures for a vehicle of its size.

Jorge Martín, meanwhile, has marked his return to form—and his current lead in the MotoGP World Championship—with the purchase of a Lamborghini Urus Performante. Unlike Espargaró, Martín’s car collection is less publicized, but his choice of the Urus Performante in grey signals a taste for both style and speed. The Urus Performante is widely regarded as the world’s fastest SUV, powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that delivers 666 horsepower. This enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 306 km/h, outpacing even the formidable Mercedes-AMG G63.

The two riders, who have often demonstrated their camaraderie beyond the MotoGP paddock, chose to unveil their new vehicles together, highlighting both their friendship and their shared enthusiasm for high-performance cars. The dealership, CCA in Andorra, prepared a joint reveal, with both SUVs presented under covers before being unveiled by their new owners.

Martín’s acquisition comes at a high point in his career, as he has recently overcome injuries to reclaim the top spot in the championship standings. For Espargaró, the Mercedes-AMG G63 is another chapter in a long-running passion for collecting rare and powerful vehicles, a hobby that has drawn comparisons to other motorsport legends with vast garages.

The intersection of motorsport and luxury cars is nothing new—many MotoGP riders are known for their love of four wheels as much as two. As highlighted in a recent analysis of the championship’s technical landscape, such as the discussion around Ducati’s dominance (see this look at Ducati’s edge in MotoGP), the pursuit of performance extends well beyond the racetrack for these athletes.

Both the Mercedes-AMG G63 and Lamborghini Urus Performante represent the pinnacle of luxury SUVs, blending everyday usability with supercar-level power. Their arrival in the garages of Martín and Espargaró underscores not only personal milestones but also the broader trend of elite athletes investing in vehicles that reflect their competitive spirit and lifestyle.

For context, the Mercedes-AMG G63 has become a status symbol among celebrities and athletes worldwide, prized for its blend of off-road capability and urban sophistication. The Lamborghini Urus Performante, meanwhile, has set new benchmarks for SUV performance, combining Italian design with raw speed. In Spain and across Europe, such acquisitions are increasingly seen as both personal rewards and public statements of success.
