The Archdiocese of Oviedo reported €13,708,993.42 in income for 2025, against expenditure of €13,708,994.42. The published totals differ by one euro.
The largest share of income came from the tax allocation system, through which taxpayers can choose to direct a portion of their tax to the Church: 59.32%. Services, diocesan institutions and current subsidies accounted for 13.50%, while extraordinary income made up 10.82%. Direct contributions from the faithful represented 7.74%; assets and other activities provided 8.62%.
The spending figures put extraordinary expenses at 33.36% of the total, followed by clergy remuneration at 26.48%. Building maintenance and running costs accounted for 21.98%, while pastoral and charitable work took 13.01%. The source gives no separate percentages for lay staff pay or contributions to training centres.
These figures accompany the national Diocesan Church Day on Sunday 8 November, under the campaign theme «Dios cuenta contigo». The Spanish Episcopal Conference says the campaign asks baptised people to take part in Church life through gratitude and shared responsibility. It draws on messages from Pope León XIV’s visit to Spain last June, including his call for each person to contribute to a common mission. The conference has also scheduled a disability evangelization training course in Madrid for 20-22 November, organized by its Episcopal Commission for Evangelization, Catechesis and Catechumenate under the theme «Hagamos de la Iglesia la casa de todos».
In Asturias, 331 diocesan and religious priests serve across 934 parishes, alongside 425 religious and more than 1,125 catechists, according to the magazine «Nuestra Iglesia», published by the Spanish Episcopal Conference and distributed in Asturian parishes. Last year, the parishes recorded more than 2,000 baptisms and more than 1,000 confirmations. They also recorded nearly 2,500 First Communions and 649 marriages. The Metropolitan Seminary of Oviedo scheduled commemorations for the Blessed Martyr Seminarians from 3 to 6 November, including a triduum and prayer vigil; four seminarians were due to receive the ministries of lector and acolyte at the concluding Eucharist.
The Church also provided assistance to 16,462 people through more than 200 charitable centres in Asturias. Separately, Cáritas Diocesana de Oviedo reported assisting 1,789 homeless people in its centres during 2025, a 10% increase from 2024. A separate report on Bishop Munilla covered another public-facing Church story in Spain.
The campaign material says the Church’s work depends on people’s time and talents, as well as prayer and financial support. It describes prayer as central to that work and says financial contributions are necessary, whether given once or through regular subscriptions.
