Pablo Iglesias says he was insulted and attacked near Galapagar railway station after he began filming a young man. The man ran off with his phone before Iglesias and a companion caught up with him; the Guardia Civil took him to its premises.

On 4 November 2026, Pablo Iglesias was returning home when the confrontation began near Galapagar railway station. Iglesias, a former second deputy prime minister of Spain and founder of Podemos, said a young man insulted him in the street.

In a post on X, Iglesias said the young man attacked him after he began recording the encounter on his mobile phone, then fled with the device. Iglesias and the person accompanying him caught up with the young man. Diario Red, the outlet associated with Iglesias, later published a video that El Correo described as showing a man dressed in black trying to stop himself from being filmed.

The Guardia Civil arrived and took the young man to its premises in Galapagar. Iglesias described him as a fascist and said the episode would not intimidate people on the political left. Reports characterized the young man as associated with the far right; the incident was reported as a confrontation and alleged taking of a phone.
