On 6 February 2027, Fernando Méndez-Leite will present Pamplona's hosting plans alongside Navarra president María Chivite and local authorities. The 41st Goya Awards ceremony will take place at the Navarra Arena. It will be the first time Pamplona, and Navarra as a whole, hosts Spain's main film awards.
The venue is set. The competition is not.
Early contenders include 'La bola negra', directed by the Javis and chosen as Spain's representative at the Oscars. Rodrigo Sorogoyen's 'El ser querido' and Pedro Almodóvar's 'Amarga Navidad' are also in the early field. El País has stressed that these are contenders at this stage, not a final list of nominees.
The 2027 ceremony will be the first time Pamplona, and Navarra as a whole, hosts Spain’s main film awards.
Other possible contenders include 'Yo no moriré de amor' and 'Sacamantecas', both shown at the Málaga and San Sebastián festivals. Several prominent releases are now part of the season around a ceremony whose location has changed from one edition to the next.
The Goyas have recently travelled to Sevilla and Málaga. Earlier ceremonies were held in Valencia, Valladolid, Granada and Barcelona. El Mundo and Diario de Navarra place Pamplona within a travelling model that has developed since 2019.

The Spanish Film Academy is taking its main event to different parts of the country. Local authorities in Pamplona are preparing to welcome the national film industry at the Navarra Arena. The Academy and the regional government describe the decision as a cultural initiative and a move toward territorial decentralisation.
The Navarra Arena is described as the largest event space in Navarra. Its standard configuration can accommodate 13,613 people, while retractable stands allow the seating plan to be adapted for a national television gala.
The 41st edition will also have tighter rules on Artificial Intelligence in submitted works. Noticias de Navarra reports that the Academy's Board approved the changes in June 2026. The rules require human authorship and disclosure of AI use. Music and song categories face stricter limits.
The awards calendar is taking shape too. elDiario.es reports that the nominations announcement is scheduled for 15 December 2026. The traditional nominees' dinner will follow on 11 January 2027. Those dates will give the early field a clearer competitive shape before the February ceremony.
The Best New Actor and Best New Actress categories will also use new limits. A performer seeking either award may not have appeared in more than four feature films released in commercial cinemas as a supporting actor or actress. The performer may not have worked professionally in film acting for more than 10 years. The rules set a career limit for categories that recognise emerging performers.
Best European Film has its own change. Only one production from each country will be accepted in the category. That changes how many films can be submitted from the same national industry.
Spain's audiovisual sector has also drawn wider international attention, including the production focus discussed in an earlier industry report. The immediate story is domestic. A major Spanish cultural ceremony is moving to Pamplona as its eligibility rules become more specific.
Pamplona gives the 2027 Goyas a clear regional base. The new provisions give the edition a defined set of rules.
