Video of Tadej Pogačar overtaking cars and weaving through Monaco traffic has divided fans. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider has returned to road training after the crash that ended his 2026 season.

In Monaco, footage captures Tadej Pogačar threading through moving traffic and passing cars during a road training ride. The manoeuvres have drawn criticism from fans concerned about the proximity to other road users and the risks on open streets.

Some viewers have praised the Slovenian rider’s bike-handling skills. Others question the example set by a leading professional cyclist riding this way on public roads. The video alone does not establish whether any traffic rules were broken.

The clip also confirms Pogačar has returned to road training after his crash on Stage 8 of the 2026 Vuelta a España, on 29 August. He was leading the general classification when he fell, about 32 kilometres from the finish in Xeraco. Pogačar later attributed the crash to hitting a large rock on the road. He was left with an open clavicle fracture and a stable fracture of the C7 vertebra, as well as concussion and multiple abrasions; he underwent surgery on the collarbone.

On 5 September, UAE Team Emirates-XRG announced that Pogačar would not race for the rest of the year. The team said the decision followed medical advice and that recovery should be completed before training loads increase gradually. Pogačar later said he spent about five weeks off the road bike after the crash, although he had resumed indoor training around two weeks after it. By mid-to-late October, he had returned to regular training, about a month earlier than his usual winter schedule. His appearance in Monaco confirms he is riding again, though the video reveals neither his physical condition nor the amount of training he is doing.

Spain has also discussed road safety in a separate context: a motorcycle safety meeting in Zaragoza addressed crash risks and safer roads. Pogačar is now looking towards the 2027 cycling season. His next planned public appearance is a UAE Team Emirates-XRG-linked cycling event in Abu Dhabi on 31 October. He is also scheduled to take part in the BeKing charity cycling event in Monaco on 29 November, which is not a return to WorldTour racing.
