In Andalusia, there has been an increase in interest in voting by mail in the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 17. According to official data, the number of accepted applications for remote voting has reached 178,540—an increase of 1.11% compared to the previous elections in 2022. This growth comes amid sustained demand for alternative forms of participation in the electoral process.
Of all the applications received, 97,829 were submitted directly at Correos offices, while another 80,711 came through the company's official website using an electronic signature or electronic ID. The postal service has already delivered 156,253 sets of voting documents to voters. The remaining parcels continue to be delivered as they are handed over by electoral commissions.
Procedure and deadlines
After verifying applicants' data in the electoral register, provincial delegations of the Electoral Registry Office send the documents—a certificate of inclusion in the list, envelopes, and ballots for all parties—to the specified address. All shipments are registered and urgent. By May 10, electoral commissions are required to hand over all sets to Correos for further delivery.
The postal worker makes at least two attempts to deliver the documents to the addressee in person. If delivery fails, a notification is left instructing the recipient to collect the envelope at the branch. Upon collection, Correos staff verify the recipient's identity by passport, driver's license, or DNI, record the document number, and obtain the applicant's signature.

The increase in applications for postal voting in Andalusia coincided with a period of heightened attention to electoral procedures and party competition.
