RTVE is expanding La 1's live schedule with a new weekend programme. Aida Bao and Aitor Albizua will mix current affairs, reports and entertainment from 19:00.
RTVE Play lists the first edition for Saturday, 3 October, at 19:00. The programme will also air on Sunday at the same time, with Aida Bao and Aitor Albizua as presenters. Reports, studio discussion and live contact with events across Spain will shape the format.
"Cosas nuestras" is not planned as a standard news bulletin. Its subjects will include incidents, weather and its effects, nature, local traditions, nostalgia and games. Viewers will also take part. Music and stories about people will round out the show.
It is a hybrid.
RTVE announced that “Cosas nuestras” would premiere on La 1 on Saturday, 3 October, at 19:00, with Aida Bao and Aitor Albizua as presenters.
La 1 already leads Spanish national television in the number of hours it broadcasts live, according to information presented by RTVE. The corporation now wants to extend that model into weekend hours where its executives say viewers have had fewer live options. The aim is to bring live reporting and current affairs to the schedule without turning the programme into a regular news bulletin.
The format was presented on the programme's own set. María Eizaguirre, RTVE's director of communications, led the event. Ana Bordas, director of content production, defended the decision to keep the channel open to events as they happen. She also pointed to the value of a large studio and a production operation that can change pace quickly.
The presenters will carry much of that balance. Aida Bao spoke about the professional understanding she shares with Aitor Albizua because of their similar career backgrounds. She described the programme as a friendly window onto reality. Albizua stressed the responsibility of taking over weekend afternoons. He also said demanding information and quality entertainment can work together.
That is the test.
La Vanguardia reports that the programme is scheduled to run from 19:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays and from 19:00 to 20:30 on Sundays, a difference intended to avoid clashes with La 1’s evening schedule.
Live reporting will reach beyond the studio. Reporters across Spain will provide recorded pieces and direct connections. Regular RTVE contributors will join Bao and Albizua on set. The show is meant to keep a physical link with streets, regions and local stories instead of relying only on studio conversation.
RTVE is also presenting the project as part of a wider effort to strengthen La 1 and La 2 among viewers' preferred channels. Its wider news output has included an earlier Ceuta report. That example shows how the corporation can move between national developments and live public-interest coverage.
Catorce Producciones is developing the programme with RTVE. El Confidencial describes it as a joint project between the broadcaster and the company. The production will focus on current affairs, entertainment, curious facts and material for a broad audience.
Azucena Rubiato, RTVE's content delegate, called it a living format with direct contact with the street. Executive producer Nico García said the project responds to an audience segment that has not had enough live programming on weekend afternoons.
The different parts will need to feel like one service. RTVE has set out a clear framework: live reporting, national coverage, familiar presenters and a wide range of subjects. "Cosas nuestras" extends the corporation's live television model into the weekend.
