Samsung has introduced two premium Android tablets with Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens. The larger model measures 14.6 inches, while Spanish pricing and a local sales date are still unconfirmed.
The larger tablet measures 14.6 inches, while the smaller model uses a 12.4-inch class design and both run Android 17 from launch. Samsung has scheduled sales for October 7 in selected markets. Spanish pricing and a Spanish sales date have not been confirmed.
Size matters here. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra measures 208.5 × 326.3 × 5.1 mm. It weighs 692 grams in its WiFi version and 695 grams with 5G. The S12+ measures 187.8 × 289.5 × 5.3 mm and weighs 553 or 555 grams. The 140-gram gap makes the Plus easier to handle during long sessions.
In the United States, the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199.99, while the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1,399.99, according to Samsung.
Both tablets use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Ultra has a resolution of 2,960 × 1,848 pixels. The S12+ provides 2,800 × 1,752 pixels. Samsung claims peak brightness of 1,600 nits, plus an outdoor high-brightness mode that reaches 1,000 nits. Vision Booster changes the image based on ambient light.
Four speakers provide four-channel spatial audio. Both tablets have IP68 protection based on laboratory testing in fresh water at up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. The package is not identical.
The Ultra adds a 13 MP main rear camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. The S12+ keeps the 13 MP main camera but has no second rear sensor. Both models include a 12 MP front ultra-wide camera and an in-display fingerprint reader. The Ultra supports WiFi 7. The Plus uses WiFi 6E. Both versions offer Bluetooth 6.0 and 5G variants, depending on the market.
The new US pricing is higher than the previous generation's launch positioning. Independent coverage from Neowin and 9to5Google describes the increase as a significant price rise, while Samsung says local prices and availability may differ by market.
Samsung uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 in both tablets. Each also has a three-dimensional vapour chamber for heat dissipation. In its comparison with the S11 Ultra, Samsung reports gains of up to 61% in NPU performance, 19% in CPU performance and 17% in GPU performance.
Those figures come from Samsung, not independent testing. The Global Newsroom announcement links the processor and cooling system to a wider performance upgrade. Cooling matters.
The Ultra comes with 12 GB of RAM and either 256 or 512 GB of storage. A higher configuration pairs 16 GB of RAM with 1 TB of storage. The Plus offers 12 GB of RAM with 256 or 512 GB. Both tablets accept microSD cards of up to 2 TB.
The Ultra has an 11,600 mAh battery. The Plus uses a 10,600 mAh battery. Samsung estimates up to 23 hours of video playback on the Ultra and 21 hours on the Plus. The estimates use a local 720p file under laboratory conditions. Both support 45 W wired charging. The required adapter is sold separately.
One UI 9 and Android 17 support Multi Window with up to three sections. Note Assist can summarise notes in Samsung Notes when the user signs in and the note contains at least 200 characters. Galaxy AI features and other productivity tools are also available.
Photoshop will be preinstalled in a selected-apps folder. Notability, Goodnotes and LumaFusion are listed among the available applications. Promotions and trial periods may vary by country. Some announced offers apply specifically to Canada.
The S Pen is included. This version does not support Bluetooth, so it lacks the remote functions some buyers may expect. The Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim are optional accessories. The Pro Keyboard has a configurable key for AI assistants, and that feature requires a network connection.
Samsung is selling the Galaxy Tab S12 range on large AMOLED screens and thin bodies. Storage can be expanded. The Ultra is the stronger model on paper because it adds WiFi 7, a second rear camera and a 1 TB configuration.
The S12+ drops those extras to reduce weight. Samsung's regional pages and local reports indicate that memory options and prices can vary across Asia and Europe. The company has not confirmed Spanish pricing or availability.
The Spanish buying decision remains open. Local prices will decide it.
