Daytime temperatures across the Comunidad de Madrid are set to fall sharply this Thursday, bringing the intense heatwave of recent days to an end. The Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (Aemet), Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, forecasts that a cooler Atlantic air mass moving in from the west will lower maximum temperatures significantly, especially inland.
Daytime heat will ease, but nights will remain warm. Residents in Madrid and surrounding municipalities should still expect tropical nights, with minimum temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. Madrid is forecast to reach a low of 24°C, while Aranjuez and Getafe will stay at or above 23°C. Minimums are expected to reach 20°C in Collado Villalba and 22°C in Alcalá de Henares. A tropical night is generally defined as one in which the minimum temperature stays at or above 20°C.
Maximum temperatures will fall notably from previous days. Aemet forecasts highs of 34°C in Alcalá de Henares and Aranjuez, 33°C in Getafe, 32°C in Madrid and Navalcarnero, and 30°C in Collado Villalba. Those figures are well below the extreme temperatures recorded during the recent heatwave. Aemet’s forecast system shows local conditions alongside a two-day table of minimum and maximum temperatures for major municipalities. Active adverse-weather warnings appear separately from the temperature forecast.
The outlook for Madrid comes during an unusually warm spell affecting Spain more broadly. Reporting on the October episode cited meteorologist Roberto Brasero, who said temperatures across the country were 5°C to 10°C above normal for the season, with Madrid near 28°C and Sevilla around 34°C. Aemet does not expect showers or storms in the Madrid region on Thursday, unlike other parts of Spain where weather warnings have been issued. Cooler air will bring relief during the day.
