Spotify is shaking up the Spanish audiobook scene with Audiolibros Plus. The new subscription brings over 350,000 titles and fresh listening features to users across Spain.

Spanish audiobook fans woke up to a big change. Spotify has launched Audiolibros+, a new subscription tier that opens the door to more than 350,000 audiobooks. This is a major step for Spotify. The company is moving well beyond music and podcasts to reach Spain’s growing crowd of audio readers.

Premium subscribers in Spain now get 12 hours of audiobook listening each month as part of their plan. The clock resets every month. If users need more time, they can buy extra hours. Unused hours stay valid for up to a year after purchase. For those who want to own a book, Spotify still lets users buy audiobooks one by one. That means more choice for every kind of listener.

Spanish users now have access to over 45,000 audiobooks in Spanish, a dedicated figure within Spotify's broader catalogue.

The numbers are hard to ignore. Spotify’s audiobook service used to be available in just 22 countries. Now it’s expanding to more than 180. That puts the service within reach of over 750 million people. The Spanish catalogue is set to grow, too. New books are coming in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Polish, plus more than 120 other languages. Spotify wants to be the go-to place for all things audio. The company is betting big on variety.

Demand is rising fast. Spotify says monthly audiobook listeners have jumped by almost 40% in the last year. Total listening hours are up more than 30%. That’s what’s driving the company to move quickly and add new features for audiobook fans.

Billboard reports that Spotify recorded a 60% increase in total audiobook listening hours between 2024 and 2025, highlighting a significant acceleration in user engagement compared to previous years.

One new tool stands out. The "Page Match" feature, called "Encuentra la página" in Spanish, lets users switch from a physical or digital book to the audiobook without losing their spot. Since February, more than a million people have used it. Now, Spotify is adding a top request: users can scan a book’s ISBN and enter a page number to jump straight to that spot in the audiobook. It’s quick. It works.

Spotify sees audiobooks as more than a trend. The company believes this is a real shift in how people read.

Spotify’s Audiolibros+ launch in Spain is not just another product tweak. It’s a direct answer to the surge in audiobook listening and a nod to changing reading habits. With a huge catalogue, flexible access, and practical tools, Spotify is making a serious play for the Spanish book market. The company’s push for more languages and easy-to-use features shows it’s in this for the long haul. For Spanish users, that means more options, more freedom, and a new way to enjoy books. It fits modern life. It’s here to stay.
