Palma’s local police recovered a stolen car and two missing tyres from the car park beside Hospital de Son Llàtzer. A hospital security guard spotted a vehicle with clear signs of forced entry and alerted authorities, the Policía Local de Palma said.
Officers found a relatively new car propped up on a jack, with one wheel missing. A police database check confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen since July 4. Police contacted the owner, who arrived within half an hour to reclaim it.
While waiting for the owner, officers inspected the vehicle and found two car tyres hidden underneath. The tyres did not match the stolen car’s model, so police worked with hospital security to investigate. Their inquiries revealed that two wheels had been stolen earlier that morning from another car belonging to a nurse working the night shift at the hospital. The nurse had already filed a theft report. Police returned the recovered tyres to her and documented the handover in an official report.
National figures provide broader context: Spain recorded 16,052 vehicle thefts in the first half of 2026, a 3.6% increase on the same period a year earlier, information from Ministry of the Interior data cited by Información. Policía Local de Palma also conducts parking-related patrols around Son Llàtzer through its Equipo Comunitario de Proximidad.
