A planned interview with Amador Mohedano had sent the reporter aboard the AVE service bound for Seville. Triguero, 43, was in carriage eight when the train collided with an Iryo service near Urda, Toledo, on 28 October 2026. Spanish media identified him as one of the victims; Mundo Deportivo later reported that the disaster had claimed 69 lives.
Triguero worked for Mandarina Producciones, the company behind the weekly Telecinco programme ¡De viernes!, presented by Santi Acosta and Bea Archidona. He reported for the show and had also worked behind the scenes on Telecinco programmes. Viewers knew him from several years of appearances on ¡Sálvame!. His assignment was to interview Mohedano, the brother of Rocío Jurado and former husband of Rosa Benito.
At the start of Friday’s broadcast, Acosta addressed the victims and their families, as well as the programme’s staff. She said the loss had left life feeling as though it had stopped for those affected, including Triguero’s family and colleagues. Archidona was visibly moved, too. Mediaset España had publicly confirmed Triguero’s death and expressed condolences, along with support for his relatives, friends and ¡De viernes! colleagues.
Archidona recalled that Triguero joined the team as a scriptwriter and deputy director. She praised his work and said colleagues were finding it very difficult to continue without him. The programme team remembered him as a wonderful colleague and said they would think of him with affection.
Acosta thanked other television production companies that offered to take over the Friday broadcast after the news was confirmed. She said the offer reflected how much people cared for Triguero, whom she described as a valued professional and colleague.
The presenters also expressed support for those injured in the crash and the professionals responding to the disaster. Acosta called for the circumstances to be addressed. Families, she said, should receive answers, and those responsible should be held accountable.
Coverage of the disaster had also included families seeking passengers after the collision. Mediaset España separately issued condolences to Triguero’s relatives and colleagues, identifying him by his full name, Raúl González Triguero.
Messages also came from former ¡Sálvame! presenter Jorge Javier Vázquez. The teams behind Directo al grano on La 1 and María Patiño’s programme on Ten also sent messages. Archidona closed the tribute by urging viewers to tell loved ones they cared about them, and remembered Triguero as a good person.
