Thirty-five classic Triumphs will gather in Tenerife from 22 to 25 October for the club’s eighth national meeting. The edition remembers Carlos Bengtson, former coordinator in the Canary Islands and national vice-president.
A four-day Tenerife tour beginning in Puerto de la Cruz will anchor the Club TR Register de España’s eighth national meeting. The 35 Triumphs are expected from mainland Spain and several Canary Islands between 22 and 25 October 2026.
The cars represent British sports-car history from the 1950s through the 1970s. The TR2 and TR3 were part of Standard Triumph’s postwar sports-car range, and the company’s technical documentation places them among the era’s most successful sports-car designs. A TR2 reference gives its production run as 1953 to 1955, with 8,636 built, a two-litre four-cylinder engine producing about 90 horsepower and a top speed exceeding 100 mph. Later models carried the line into the following decades: the TR4A had a 2,138cc engine and was offered with either independent rear suspension or a solid axle, while 91,850 TR6s were produced from 1968 to 1976. Of those TR6s, 83,480 were exported, mostly to the United States. Their owners will visit several Tenerife municipalities, with the programme combining motoring routes and time to discover the island.
This edition is dedicated to Carlos Bengtson, who died less than a year ago. He was the club’s coordinator in the Canary Islands and its national vice-president. The organisers have given the tribute the title «In Memoriam Carlos Bengtson».
The gathering draws classic-car enthusiasts interested in preservation and Triumph’s history. The TR2 and TR3 also had a connection to early motor racing: Standard Triumph’s technical documentation notes that many aspiring drivers gained early experience in the cars, including Jim Clark, who owned one of the first TR3s in Scotland. That focus differs from urban traffic initiatives such as the Belgian car-free event, which saw more than seventy municipalities take part.
The organiser is Club TR Register de España. The event listing gives Calle Puerto Viejo 30, 38400 Puerto de la Cruz, Canarias, España, as the location, with contact by email at info@trclub-spain.com or by phone on 628 004 708.
