DAZN Predicts Record Revenue in Spain by 2027. DAZN expects to earn up to €1 billion in Spain by 2027. The company has posted its first profit and aims to maintain this achievement. Growth is attributed to new sports rights and the World Championship.
The Spanish division of DAZN expects its revenue in the country to reach €1 billion between 2026 and 2027. This was announced by Oscar Vilda, CEO of DAZN in Spain and Portugal. According to him, the company finished the year with a profit for the first time and intends to maintain positive momentum over the next two years. This result is attributed to a successful strategy of acquiring sports rights and an increase in the number of subscribers.
Vilda notes that DAZN confidently forecasts further growth, as its customer base already allows it to predict future revenues with high accuracy. In his estimation, even if some subscribers are lost, the company will be able to remain profitable. If plans come to fruition, the Spanish division will become the second-largest in terms of revenue among all DAZN markets, second only to one of the group’s key markets.
A major growth driver will be the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which for the first time will be held in three countries—Mexico, the USA, and Canada. DAZN expects that about three million residents of Spain will watch matches via the platform or partners such as Telefónica and Orange. Broadcasts of the tournament are expected to attract up to 250,000 new customers. In 2025, the number of direct DAZN users in Spain grew by about 60%, and at certain periods, growth reached 70%.
Among the key factors for success, Wilda highlights DAZN's aggressive policy in acquiring broadcasting rights. DAZN has extended its contract to broadcast the basketball La Liga until 2032, secured the rights to the French Ligue 1, and added the NFL to its portfolio, while retaining MotoGP and Formula 1. The company does not rule out further investment in new rights, which may include not only traditional ball sports.
At the same time, according to Wilda, DAZN is not considering any mergers or acquisitions in the Spanish market, as it does not see suitable partners. However, in Portugal the company is actively working on launching a betting business and is seeking partners for joint projects or to create its own DAZN Bet brand. In addition, DAZN continues to acquire broadcasting rights for European football featuring Portuguese clubs.
Another factor driving growing interest in sporting events in Spain is the activity seen in other regions of Europe. For example, authorities in Sardinia recently offered €7.5 million for the right to host the start of a major cycling race in order to increase the island's tourist appeal. DAZN entered the Spanish market in 2019 and has since been actively expanding its portfolio of sports rights. In recent years, competition among streaming platforms has intensified, prompting companies to seek new investments and additional revenue streams. According to industry data, Spain is among the largest European markets for sports broadcasts, with consistently high interest in international tournaments.
