More than 500 used cars will fill Toledo’s La Peraleda fairgrounds from October 1 to 4 for the twentieth Feria del Vehículo de Ocasión. With 90% of local dealers taking part, buyers will find everything from budget hatchbacks to nearly new hybrids in one place. El Español and Diariovasco describe the fair as one of the region’s biggest. Toledo has become a major center for used-car sales in Castilla-La Mancha.
Prices start at about 10,000 euros, and most cars will be listed between 20,000 and 30,000 euros. The upper price limit reaches 100,000 euros, El Español reports. María Ángeles Fernández, president of the Asociación de Concesionarios y Talleres de Reparación de Toledo, says the fair is designed to make buying easy. Buyers can arrange insurance at the event, where financing is also available; every car comes with a warranty. Many could lead home in their new car the same day. The fair officially opens on October 1 at 11:30, and the grounds will be open daily from 10:00 to 21:00 throughout the four-day event, information from El Digital Castilla-La Mancha.
The fair also has activities for families. A special inflatable play area for children is planned for Saturday afternoon, while a hands-on animation workshop is set for Sunday morning. Weekend live music includes a Friday night performance by Jazz Trío, with DJ Nuno Rodríguez taking over on Saturday. Food trucks will be there every day, serving special menus for visitors.
This year’s fair comes as the used-car market rebounds. National sales in August reached 68,000 vehicles, up 14.8%, the highest August total since 2019. New-car sales are also up, with 1.2 million units sold in the last year, matching pre-pandemic numbers. Toledo accounts for 42% of all vehicle registrations in Castilla-La Mancha and ranks second in Spain for used-car deals, behind Madrid. For every new car sold, 1.8 used cars change hands. Recent GANVAM data cited by Car and Driver España underpins this ratio. Flexicar’s August 2026 analytics put the average price of a used car in Spain at 15,770 euros, up 1.96% from July, pointing to a general upward trend in the second-hand market.
Spain’s car fleet is also aging. Only 15% of used cars sold are between one and five years old, while about 40% of cars on the road are over 15 years old. Fernández has called for a national renewal plan, linking older cars to emissions and safety problems. Diesel models still make up 45% of the used market, despite experts predicting their decline in 2019. Electric cars now account for 22% of sales, while hybrids make up 27%. The shift aligns with other recent reports, including the reported earlier rise in hybrid reliability in Spain.
Rising fuel prices are also changing how people buy cars, as higher running costs prompt many buyers to rethink their choices. Fernández says the auto sector remains strong, with good economic prospects and competitive pay, but faces a shortage of skilled workers. Finding staff is now as difficult as it is in construction. She urges young people, especially women, to consider automotive careers through vocational training, describing them as a secure path with good pay.
The Feria del Vehículo de Ocasión in Toledo reflects changes in the region’s car market. Strong dealer turnout and a wide choice of cars frame a fair aimed at families and first-time buyers, bringing the industry’s efforts to modernize and attract new talent into view.
