Nearly 29% of Lexus RX hybrids sold in Spain are expected to reach 400,000 kilometers, putting most competitors far behind and raising expectations for what a premium SUV can deliver. The latest iSeeCars report ranks the Lexus RX hybrid as the top hybrid for endurance in both Spain and the United States.
The RX is similar in size to models such as the Audi Q7 and BMW X5, but its hybrid powertrain sets it apart. In Spain, it is available as a plug-in. iSeeCars gives the RX hybrid a 28.9% chance of exceeding 250,000 miles (about 402,000 kilometers). Almost one in three RX hybrids could last well beyond the typical lifespan of most cars on Spanish roads.
The average vehicle in the iSeeCars study has only a 5.4% chance of reaching 250,000 miles, making the RX hybrid's result more than five times the market average.
Three models in the ranking outlast the RX hybrid. The Toyota Sequoia leads at 42.3%. Lexus LS scores 38.8%, while Toyota 4Runner reaches 33.1%. The Toyota Tundra is close behind, but no other hybrid comes near. The next-best model, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, scores 20.7%. The Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Avalon Hybrid score even lower. The Toyota Prius and Camry Hybrid, often praised for reliability, don’t break the 12% mark.
The RX’s hybrid system is more than a label. The standard RX, with a conventional engine, ranks much lower, with only a 12.8% chance of reaching the same distance. The hybrid version more than doubles that probability, showing Toyota’s hybrid technology’s real-world impact on durability.
The RX hybrid’s result is more than five times the study’s average, reflecting the strength of Japanese engineering in this segment. Nine of the top ten vehicles in the ranking come from Toyota or Lexus. The Honda Accord Hybrid is the only model from another brand to break their streak.
Several industry publications summarizing the iSeeCars research report that Toyota and Lexus brands dominate the longevity rankings, with their models consistently more likely than European and American competitors to reach 250,000 miles.
These results align with the latest OCU reliability report, which gives Lexus a near-perfect 93 out of 100 for reliability and 91 for owner satisfaction. The RX hybrid’s performance fits a broader trend: Japanese brands regularly outperform European competitors in long-term dependability.
As the Spanish market moves toward electrification and buyers seek cars that can handle years of daily use, the RX hybrid’s numbers stand out. The shift toward Asian brands and hybrids has already been noted in recent coverage, and the RX’s strong showing adds to that momentum.
