Spanish police have detained two men in Barcelona in connection with the violent kidnapping and assault of a Yemeni national in Torrox, Málaga. The incident, which took place in May, involved three attackers who forced the victim into a car, drove him to a remote area, and subjected him to a brutal beating before robbing him and leaving him injured in an abandoned field.
The case came to light when the victim, despite severe facial injuries, managed to reach a nearby service station in Torrox to seek help. Local authorities responded quickly, providing medical assistance and transferring him first to the Axarquía regional hospital and later to the Hospital Regional Universitario de Málaga, where he remained under observation for several days due to the extent of his injuries.
According to the Guardia Civil, the victim recounted that he was walking along the Torrox Costa when three individuals assaulted him, forced him into a vehicle, and transported him to an isolated area known as Pago de la Dehesa, south of the A-7 motorway. There, he was held against his will, beaten, threatened with a firearm, and robbed of a significant sum of cash. After the attack, the assailants abandoned him in a deserted area, from which he managed to walk to a gas station for assistance.
Investigators used the victim's account, along with the timing and location of the incident, to identify the vehicle involved. This led to the identification of the suspects, whose faces were recognized by the victim. The Guardia Civil issued a nationwide alert, and within days, the Mossos d'Esquadra located and arrested two of the suspects in Barcelona. The third individual remains at large, with an active search underway.
The two detainees face charges of illegal detention, armed threats, violent robbery, and serious bodily harm. The investigation remains open as authorities continue efforts to apprehend the third suspect.
