Valencia will launch a full renovation of a Camins al Grau park in September 2026, transforming nearly 2,000 square meters with accessible playgrounds, a dedicated dog zone, new lighting, and modern amenities. The project aims to create a more inclusive and welcoming public space for families and pet owners.
Work is set to begin in early September 2026 on a major transformation of the public garden between Rodríguez de Cepeda and Doctor Manuel Candela in Valencia’s Camins al Grau district. The city council has approved a comprehensive overhaul of the 1,921-square-meter park, aiming to deliver a more accessible, family-friendly, and pet-inclusive space within four months of the project’s start.
Central to the redesign is a 340-square-meter children’s play area, specifically planned to accommodate children with disabilities. The new playground will feature ground-level carousels, hillside slides, and accessible spinning equipment, all installed on certified impact-absorbing surfaces that meet European safety standards. The layout is intended to offer a variety of play options while prioritizing accessibility and minimizing injury risks.
According to Mónica Gil, Valencia’s Councillor for Parks and Gardens, the goal is to ensure public spaces are open and usable for everyone. The renovation will preserve almost all existing trees, integrating mature greenery with new recreational features. The project originated from a proposal approved through the city’s participatory budgeting process, Decidim VLC, and complements other recent investments in Valencia’s green spaces.
Dedicated Dog Zone and New Amenities
The updated park will also introduce a fenced dog socialization area, separated from the children’s zone and main walkways by perimeter fencing and sand-mortar surfacing. New benches, custom-designed for the site, will be installed alongside upgraded waste bins and two drinking fountains, expanding the park’s amenities for all age groups.
In addition to new play and pet areas, the project will replace existing pavements and reorganize the park’s layout for better flow and usability.
