Madrid launches new family payments: up to €1,000 for birth and up to €3,113 for kindergarten. In 2025–2026, Madrid will launch a major program to support families: payments for the birth and adoption of children, as well as substantial subsidies for private kindergartens. The amount of aid depends on the number of children and the family's income.
Starting June 2025, a new payment system for families with children will be introduced in Madrid. City and regional authorities are launching several support programs: from one-time payments for birth or adoption to subsidies for private kindergartens. According to Talent24h, this is the largest family support package in recent years.
Payments for childbirth and adoption
Families in which a child is born or adopted between June 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, will be eligible to receive a one-time payment from the city. The first child qualifies for €500, the second for €750, and the third and subsequent children for €1000. This assistance is not dependent on family income or the age of the parents, but there is an important condition: at least five years of registered residency in Madrid prior to submitting the application.
Applications can be submitted via the city hall's electronic platform within two months after birth or adoption. The program is part of the city's Birthrate Promotion and Family Support Plan for 2024–2029.
Subsidies for private kindergartens
Families with children aged 0 to 3 are eligible for subsidies to pay for private kindergartens. In the 2026/27 academic year, the region will allocate €67.3 million for this purpose—about 34,000 children will receive support. The amount of the subsidy depends on income: from €1,947 to €3,113 per child per year. Families can apply if the child is born or expected to be born before January 1, 2027, and is enrolled in an accredited private kindergarten.
The maximum annual income per family member for participation is €30,000. Additional points in the selection process are given to families where both parents work full-time, as well as to single-parent families and families with a disabled parent.
Updated Beca Infantil Plus
The municipal Beca Infantil Plus program for families with children in private kindergartens is also changing: payments will now be made every two months instead of once a year. The subsidy amount has increased by 10% and is now €118, €220, or €385 per month, depending on income. The income threshold for participation remains €30,000 per person per year.
Support for non-profit organizations
Additionally, the authorities are allocating €4.4 million for non-profit organizations working with families and children. Of this, €2.8 million will go to projects supporting birth rates and family life, and another €1.6 million—to assist children and families in difficult situations. These grants are planned for the years 2026–2027.
According to Talent24h, the new measures are designed not only to ease the financial burden on families, but also to stimulate the birth rate in the capital. In recent years, Madrid has faced a demographic decline, and the authorities are relying on comprehensive support for parents.
