History
The portal “RUSSPAIN” was founded by Nikolai Kuznetsov, a native of Soviet Leningrad. The immigration wave of the 1990s brought him to the Spanish Mediterranean. In the beginning, the website was a collection of essays about how natives of the USSR-CIS adapted to this European country at the turn of the century. A short essay “The First Impression of Spaniards about Our People” dated November 8, 1998, and reprinted in hundreds of domestic and foreign publications, is considered the starting event, and this day is regarded as the website’s, and later the portal’s, birthday.
By early 2023, the portal had grown into a well-structured information hub about immigration to Spain (translations and explanations of laws, regulations, and instructions, informational and analytical articles, radio broadcasts, videos, consultations, the experience of compatriots, a practical forum, discussions, and much more), as well as about the history and the present of the Iberian kingdom, and its role in the life of a united Europe.
Now, Internet veteran “RUSSPAIN” is a modern PROJECT which, without losing its traditional team of authors or the information base accumulated over decades, is embarking on a new and exciting chapter. At the beginning of 2025, the project was completely relaunched with a new team and authors. Archives have been preserved in full.
