The manufacturer makes no secret of its ambitions: the EX60 is intended to become the brand’s flagship electric car and set new industry standards.

As European regulators continue to adjust timelines for phasing out internal combustion engines, Volvo remains committed to full electrification. Despite ongoing policy uncertainty in Brussels, the company is confidently expanding its EV lineup, focusing on environmental sustainability and advanced technology. The new EX60 bridges the gap between the compact EX30 and the flagship EX90, but it’s the EX60 that now holds the brand’s record for range among all models.

Technology and Range

The main headline is the EX60 version with a range of up to 810 kilometers on a single charge. This is an absolute record for Volvo and one of the best figures on the market. This achievement was made possible by the latest SPA 3 platform, which reduced the vehicle’s weight and improved aerodynamics. The drag coefficient is just 0.26, directly boosting both efficiency and driving range.

In its base configuration, the EX60 comes with rear-wheel drive and a 374 hp electric motor, along with an 83 kWh battery. This version can travel up to 620 kilometers on a single charge, which is already impressive. For those seeking more power and all-wheel drive, the P10 and P12 Twin Performance variants are available. The latter accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and is equipped with a 117 kWh battery, offering maximum range.

Design and Comfort

On the outside, the EX60 stands out immediately with its distinctive Scandinavian style. Signature Thor’s Hammer headlights and a bold grille give the car a charismatic look. The body is wider than most competitors, and its refined aerodynamics not only enhance appearance but also improve energy efficiency.

Inside, the crossover greets driver and passengers with a digital 11.2-inch instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch multimedia screen. The system runs on Google Gemini and the new Hugincore central processor, delivering instant response and an intuitive interface. The front seats are suitable for people over 180 cm tall, while the 523-liter trunk is complemented by an additional compartment under the hood.

Sustainability and Innovation

Volvo’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond electric power. The EX60’s design incorporates up to 25% recycled materials, and its new architecture enables assembly with larger components, reducing overall weight and improving body rigidity. The crossover weighs 2,115 kg—an impressive figure for an electric car in this class.

SPA 3 supports 400-volt charging and bi-directional energy transfer, opening up new possibilities for using the car as a power source. Fast charging can extend the driving range by 340 kilometers in just 12 minutes—one of the best results among today’s electric vehicles.

Market and competitors

The EX60 will go on sale in Spain in the first quarter of the year, with the first deliveries scheduled for a few months later. Volvo aims to sell at least 1,000 units by 2026. The starting price is 65,000 euros, making the new model more accessible than the BMW iX3 and other direct competitors in the premium electric SUV segment.

The lineup will also feature a Cross Country off-road version with increased ground clearance and optional air suspension. The powertrain range for this model is expected to remain the same as the standard EX60, especially for the high-end P10 and P12 versions.
