The women’s team from Barcelona made a confident start in the new season of the main European club tournament. In their opening group stage match, the Spaniards left no chance for their opponents from Munich, finishing the game with a score of 7:1. From the opening minutes, the Catalans took control, setting a high tempo and barely allowing their rivals any opportunities for counterplay.
By the fourth minute, Alexia Putellas opened the scoring with a long-range strike, setting the tone for the match. Soon after, Irene Paredes nearly doubled the lead, but her shot hit the post. However, Ewa Pajor was in the right place to capitalize on the rebound and extend the advantage. The third goal came thanks to Lina Brugt’s solo effort, as she broke through the defense and scored with precision.
The German visitors managed to reduce the deficit after a combination by Bühl and Kett, but the teams went into halftime with the hosts leading 4:1—Salma Paralluelo converted Brugt’s cross just before the break.
In the second half, the Spaniards maintained control of the game, keeping up their pace. The German side tried to shift the momentum and even found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Shortly after, Pajor scored her second, heading in a precise assist from Putellas. Another goal by Paredes was disallowed after video review, as the ball had gone out of play before Aitana Bonmatí’s cross.
In the final part of the match, Barcelona’s coaching staff gave playing time to Claudia Pina and Kika Nazareth, both returning from injury. Pina scored twice: first, she finished off a solo run by Vicky Lopez, and then capitalized on a pass from Brugts after a deflection off Mahmutovic. The final score of 7:1 highlighted the Spaniards’ total dominance on the field and their ambitions in this season’s Champions League.
