Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen’s garage is now one car lighter. His Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, purchased in 2019, has changed owners. During all the time in use, the sports car’s odometer has accumulated just over two thousand kilometers. The car was driven not only by Verstappen himself but also by his father Jos Verstappen, who is also well known in the world of motorsport.
This vehicle is part of a limited series of 200 units. The specific car sold had serial number 065. It was delivered with additional wheels and a spare parts kit. The model is designed exclusively for track use and is not approved for public roads. The design includes features that enhance aerodynamics and handling, while the exhaust system offers more freedom compared to civilian versions.
Production of the GT2 RS Clubsport took place at the Flacht plant, where racing versions of the 911 GT3 Cup and RSR are also made. The model was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2018, coinciding with the debut of the new 911 (992 generation). For Porsche Motorsport, this car became their most powerful customer racing model at the time—its engine produces 700 horsepower.
For maintenance and technical support, the Verstappens turned to the Dutch team GP Elite, known for competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup. In January 2020, Max and Jos held a test session at the Montmelo track (Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya), which was documented in a film project about the young driver’s career.
The car is decorated with Max’s autographs in three locations: on the dashboard, the hood, and in the engine bay. The digital display shows the names of the owner and his manager, Raymond Vermeulen. In 2022, the sports car was shipped from Belgium to the US, where it has since seen almost no use. Interest in the vehicle remains high due to its minimal mileage and its connection to the Red Bull Racing driver’s name.
The organizers did not disclose the exact sale amount, but prior to the auction, the car was valued between 475,000 and 560,000 euros. The final price likely fell within this range, minus the auction house commission. As a result, Max Verstappen received a significant sum for this rare car, which will now become part of its new owner’s collection.
