Seven Pairs of Comfortable Autumn Shoes from Queen Letizia of Spain

Style Without Sacrifice: Queen Letizia Chooses Comfortable Shoes for Fall

The Queen of Spain is redefining fashion rules. She favors comfort and style, choosing footwear from local brands. Discover her autumn favorites.

Queen Letizia continues to prove that royal elegance doesn’t require sacrificing comfort for stilettos. By her own example, she shows how high status can be combined with practicality by favoring comfortable footwear. At the same time, the Queen remains loyal to domestic manufacturers, supporting Spanish brands. Her autumn wardrobe serves as a guide to stylish and comfortable shoes, from elegant low-heeled pumps to bold boots and even sneakers.

One of the key elements in the Queen’s looks has been kitten heel shoes. This compromise between sophistication and comfort fits perfectly with her philosophy. For instance, at the Spanish National Day in 2025, she paired her emerald tweed dress with slingback shoes from Massimo Dutti. This model had already appeared in her wardrobe last season, underscoring its practicality. Inditex group brands are often Letizia’s choice for official events. Another favorite is the Clara model by Magrit from Alicante. At the beginning of the year, the Queen wore these burgundy shoes to the Pascua Militar ceremony and later opted for a dark blue pair for the diplomatic corps reception.

For more informal outings, the queen often opts for loafers. A square-heeled model from Massimo Dutti has become her true companion—Letizia has worn them more than ten times since their debut in February 2024. She also wore these moccasins when seeing Princess Leonor off in January 2025, pairing them with a blue pantsuit. Such choices add a touch of effortless elegance to her looks. Another bold option is chunky-soled moccasins from the Alicante-based firm Martinelli. This modern and comfortable footwear shows that the queen isn’t afraid to experiment with fashion and easily incorporates trends into her wardrobe, pairing them with both business suits and jeans.

When the dress code allows more freedom, Letizia favors high boots. At the 25th anniversary of the Aequitas foundation in November 2024, she caused a stir by appearing in a black knit dress and cowboy-style high boots from the Valencia-based brand Unisa. This choice was also a gesture of support for the region affected by floods. On another occasion, for a science award ceremony, she created a boho look by pairing a floral-print dress with high suede boots with chunky heels from the aforementioned brand Magrit. Such styles are perfect for creating relaxed yet elegant autumn ensembles.

Perhaps the most unexpected choice in the queen’s footwear collection has been her barefoot sneakers. Letizia has been spotted wearing them several times, embracing a distinctly informal look. Specifically, these are the MU-01 model from the Spanish eco-brand MU the Brand. This so-called ‘barefoot’ footwear promotes a natural foot position and muscle development, which is especially relevant given the queen’s complaints about foot pain. Despite their minimalist and, for some, unconventional appearance, these sneakers are versatile and clearly show that comfort is a top priority for Spain’s first lady.
