On October 12, the Barcelona football club issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of Spain’s national holiday. The official message, posted on the club’s social media accounts, expressed support both for itself and for Catalonia. The post was accompanied by images of the Catalan flag and club symbols.
The club’s Spanish-language Twitter page has about 50 million followers. For those who prefer Catalan, there is a separate account with over 8 million subscribers. However, on other language versions—such as Indonesian, Brazilian, Japanese, Arabic, French, and Turkish—no similar message has yet appeared.
On Instagram, where the club has over 144 million followers, the congratulatory message was also posted. At the same time, on TikTok, where the audience exceeds 60 million users, there is still no such publication.
This approach to the congratulatory message sparked discussion among fans and analysts. Many noted the choice of languages and platforms, as well as the emphasis on regional identity. The club continues to actively use social media to engage with fans around the world.
