The arrival of the Jaecoo 8 SHS on the Spanish market could reshape the landscape among large SUVs. The Chinese brand, part of the Chery group, has focused on combining a premium experience with advanced technology, a move that has already sparked interest among car enthusiasts. This new SUV stands out not only for its size, but also for its technical features—rarely seen in this segment at such a price.
The Jaecoo 8 SHS immediately impresses with its impressive dimensions: nearly 4.82 meters in length, 1.93 meters wide, and 1.71 meters tall. A 2.82-meter wheelbase ensures ample space for passengers, while a 738-liter trunk makes this model attractive for family trips. Its appearance is accentuated by a vertical grille, LED headlights, and 20-inch wheels, lending the car both a solid and distinctive presence.
Comfort and technology
Inside, the Jaecoo 8 SHS offers a true premium feel: a spacious cabin, quality finishes, a panoramic roof, and two wide 12.3-inch digital panels for the driver and passenger. The rear seats feature both heating and ventilation, and the interior layout allows for a choice between five- and seven-seat configurations. Such equipment is rare among competitors in this price range.
The technological features are impressive: the SUV is equipped with a package of 20 driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane keeping. For adventure enthusiasts, there are six driving modes: standard, eco, sport, sand, snow, and off-road. This allows the vehicle to adapt to any conditions, which is especially important for Spanish roads and climate.
Hybrid Power
The key feature of the Jaecoo 8 SHS is its hybrid powertrain, combining a new-generation gasoline engine with three electric motors. The total output reaches 428 horsepower, enabling acceleration to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. All-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox deliver confident performance both on the highway and off-road.
The 34.5 kWh battery sets the Jaecoo 8 SHS apart from other hybrids: charging from 30 to 80% takes just 25 minutes, and the electric-only range is 134 km. In combined mode, the car can travel up to 1,000 km without recharging, while fuel consumption does not exceed 2.1 liters per 100 km. This achievement calls into question the relevance of many European models, which cost more but offer fewer capabilities.
A challenge to competitors
The Jaecoo 8 SHS enters the market at a time when demand for large hybrid SUVs in Spain is steadily growing. According to Autobild, the first vehicles will arrive at dealerships in the spring, with pre-orders opening as early as March. The expected price will be significantly lower than comparable European models, which may strongly appeal to buyers looking for a balance of price, quality, and technology.
While the price has not been officially announced, experts are confident: the Jaecoo 8 SHS is poised to be a serious contender in the market. European brands will have to respond to such a player, since the Chinese manufacturer offers not only rich features but also innovative solutions for fuel efficiency and environmental care.
Jaecoo is a young brand that has quickly made a name for itself on the global market. The company is part of the large Chinese auto group Chery and focuses on SUVs with an emphasis on comfort, technology, and affordability. The brand has already introduced several models in Spain, but it is the Jaecoo 8 SHS that has become the flagship, combining a premium approach with modern hybrid technology. This move may change Spanish buyers’ attitudes toward cars from China and intensify competition among SUV manufacturers.
