On Monday, October 6, the draw for the first stage of the national cup tournament took place at the Spanish Football Center in Las Rozas (Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas). A total of 112 teams will participate in this round, including 16 top-tier clubs. However, four leading clubs — Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Athletic Bilbao — will enter the competition at a later stage, as they are set to play in the Spanish Super Cup.
The organizers provided live coverage of the event on the official platforms of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), as well as on the Teledeporte TV channel. Football fans could also follow the draw through the federation’s digital services. This is one of the most anticipated moments of the season for supporters, as lower-division teams get a chance to face elite professionals.
This year, the format for the first two rounds has changed. Now, match pairings will be drawn based on the geographical proximity of the clubs, aiming to reduce travel expenses and make games more accessible for fans. The first round will run from October 28 to 30. All ties will be decided by a single match played at the home ground of the lower-ranked team. The only exception is for matches between Primera Federación representatives—in this case, the home team will be determined by the draw.
The draw began on October 6 at 1:00 p.m. Spanish time. It will be available not only on television, but also through the federation’s online platforms. The broadcast will also be available on Teledeporte. For those who prefer text updates, information will be published on popular sports websites and radio stations across the country.
