Ferran Torres will not take part in the upcoming match of the Spanish national team. The Barcelona forward has been left out of the squad for the game against Bulgaria, which will take place as part of the fourth round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Valladolid.
The Valencia native experienced muscle discomfort after the match against Georgia held in Elche. The medical staff of the Spanish Football Federation conducted additional tests to rule out serious injuries. As a result, specialists found no anatomical damage, but diagnosed muscular overload.
Taking into account the tight schedule and the upcoming international fixtures, the coaching staff of the national team decided not to take risks with the player’s condition. It was decided to relieve Torres from both the preparations and the match itself to prevent any possible worsening of his physical state.
Barcelona has received all the necessary information regarding the forward’s condition and the Federation’s decision. During the current qualifying campaign, the national team has already lost several players to injury, including Lamine and Hausen. The physical condition of the squad remains a concern for the coaching staff.
It is still unclear whether a new player will be called up to replace Torres. Coach Luis de la Fuente is considering various options, but no final decision has been made. This season has been intense, and health issues among the players are becoming increasingly apparent.
