The Spanish national lottery La Primitiva has once again offered hope to thousands of players who test their luck each week in this classic draw. While the top prize in the Special category remained unclaimed this time, fortune smiled broadly on two participants from the southern regions of the country. The draw, held on Thursday, December 11, awarded two lucky winners significant sums while the jackpot continues to climb, reaching astronomical levels.
In the latest draw, not a single ticket sold in the Loterías y Apuestas del Estado hall matched all six numbers plus the reintegro number required to win the Special category. As a result, the lottery’s top prize has grown and now stands at an impressive 58 million euros. This sum could go to a single winner in the next draw, fueling nationwide excitement around the lottery.
Nevertheless, luck found its heroes in the First category, where players must match six main numbers to win. Two tickets brought their owners €693,454.89 each. According to lottery officials, both winning tickets were sold in the south of Spain, in Andalucía, turning an ordinary December day into a true celebration for the winners.
One of the winning tickets was sold in Córdoba at lottery administration No. 28.415, located in the Alsara shopping center at 6 Diputado Ignacio Gallego Street. The second winning ticket was issued in the city of Ayamonte (province of Huelva) at sales point No. 39.360 on 24 Benavente Street. The identities of the winners have not yet been disclosed.
The winning combination in the December 11 draw consisted of the following numbers: main — 46, 20, 12, 28, 13, 14; Complementario — 31; Reintegro — 0. The Joker number was 2 278 934.
La Primitiva offers several prize categories, ranging from rewards for matching three numbers up to the top Special Category prize. There are six regular prize categories and one special category. Additionally, each draw determines a Reintegro number, which, if it matches the number on your ticket, allows you to get a full refund of your stake—a nice bonus for many participants.
For an extra euro, players can try their luck in El Joker, an associated game. When this option is activated, the ticket is assigned a random seven-digit number. If it matches the winning Joker number exactly, the player wins a fixed prize of 1 million euros.
Incidentally, La Primitiva is one of the oldest lotteries in the world, with its origins dating back to 18th-century Spain. The first draw took place on December 10, 1763, during the reign of Carlos III, initiated by the Marqués de Esquilache as a way to replenish the state treasury without introducing new taxes. Over its long history, the lottery has undergone changes and even periods of suspension. In its current form, the draw was revived in 1985 and has since become one of the most popular and significant lottery events in Spain. Draws are held several times a week, and players participate by choosing 6 numbers out of 49.
