In the province of Burgos, law enforcement officers became interested in a woman who tried to send a rather unusual item by mail. Inside an ordinary package bound for Alicante, they discovered an antique pistol manufactured in the United Kingdom in the early 19th century. Experts believe that this weapon may be connected to one of the English kings.
The pistol, classified as a flintlock type, was produced between 1802 and 1815. Its design means both the projectile and gunpowder are loaded directly into the barrel. According to experts, the Tower Light Dragoon model, caliber 64, has been preserved in working condition despite its considerable age.
The owner of the package neither had a permit for possession nor a license to trade such items. This fact drew the attention of the police, who seized the weapon and launched an investigation. The operation, dubbed “Paquete Lava,” made it possible to prevent the possible illegal transfer of a historical artifact.
Interestingly, no further information has yet emerged about how such a rare item came into the hands of the Burgos resident. It is also unclear how the pistol, which is believed to have belonged to a monarch, found its way to Spain. A ballistic examination confirmed that the weapon is fully functional, despite being more than two centuries old.
An investigation has been launched against the woman on suspicion of possible arms smuggling and illegal weapons trafficking. Authorities are currently clarifying all the circumstances related to the attempt to send this unique item to another region of the country.
