Recent traffic incidents on Granada’s main highways have once again highlighted the fragility of road safety in Spain. Two serious accidents involving both adults and children temporarily blocked traffic and sparked concern among local residents. According to Ale Espanol, the first incident occurred on the A-395 at kilometer five, in the direction of Sierra Nevada. At that moment, three vehicles collided on the highway, two of them suffering a head-on crash. The emergency services received reports of the incident around 16:00. Paramedics, firefighters, road workers, and members of the Guardia Civil responded to the scene. One of the injured was trapped inside the vehicle and was freed only after the intervention of firefighters. All eight individuals, including two children aged three and one, were taken to Virgen de las Nieves Hospital for medical care.
The second accident
Earlier that same day, another accident occurred on the N-323 near Vélez de Benaudalla. Here, a passenger car and a van collided. According to Ale Espanol, the crash left three people trapped inside the damaged vehicles. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and rescued the injured. The victims were men aged 74, 41, and 31. The youngest was hospitalized at Santa Ana, while the others were admitted to the neurotrauma and rehabilitation unit at Virgen de las Nieves Hospital.

Both incidents led to a temporary halt in traffic on key road sections. On the A-395, traffic was completely blocked in both directions, causing major jams and delays. After the aftermath of the accident was cleared, the road was reopened to vehicles. On the N-323, movement was also restricted while rescue teams worked at the scene. In both cases, emergency services responded swiftly and coordinated, allowing for rapid evacuation of the injured and minimizing further risks for other drivers.
People of different ages were among the victims of the accidents, highlighting the unpredictable nature of such situations. Doctors report that the timely arrival of rescuers and prompt evacuation played a key role in reducing the severity of health consequences for those involved.
