A high-profile court case is unfolding in the Valencian Community: Elche CF forward Rafa Mir and Alhama CF player Pablo Jara are at the center of serious allegations. A judge from Llíria has decided to open a case against both athletes on charges related to sexual assault and bodily harm.
According to case materials, the events took place on the night of September 1, 2024, at Rafa Mir’s private residence in Bétera, near Valencia. Two women, who had met the footballers in one of the city’s nightclubs, went home with them. Soon after, according to the investigation, incidents occurred that became the basis for the charges.
Investigators believe that Rafa Mir engaged in sexual acts with one of the women twice, despite her resistance. The first episode allegedly took place by the pool, where the footballer is said to have used force, restrained the woman, kissed, and touched her despite her objections. Then, when the victim tried to leave the house but returned to collect her belongings, Mir allegedly used physical force again, dragged her into the bathroom, and repeated the assault. The woman managed to escape and leave the premises, highly distressed.
The second woman was also attacked, this time by Pablo Jara. According to the court, he pushed her, hit her, and forced her out of the house, causing injuries. As a result, both women ended up outside, one of them almost unclothed.
The judge considered the collected evidence sufficient to press charges of sexual assault and minor bodily harm. Rafa Mir was set a bail amount of €12,500, and Pablo Jare — €5,000, to secure potential civil claims. Both athletes have been summoned for questioning, scheduled for October 13. Mir’s defense requests that the questioning be conducted remotely.
The case has attracted significant public attention, particularly given the involvement of an active professional football club player. Further developments and new details regarding the trial are expected in the coming weeks.
