Feijóo Demands Government Resignation Following Series of Arrests and Raids

Corruption scandal in Spain — Feijóo calls for elections

Alberto Núñez Feijóo has declared an unprecedented crisis within the government. He is calling for the immediate resignation of the Prime Minister and new elections. The scandal has affected key institutions of power.

A new political scandal is erupting in Spain: Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the Partido Popular (PP), has sharply criticized the government’s actions following a wave of arrests and searches related to a corruption case involving high-ranking members of the ruling party. According to him, the country now faces a situation where state institutions are under unprecedented pressure and public trust in the authorities is rapidly declining.

Feijóo spoke at a rally in Herrera del Duque (Badajoz), emphasizing that in the past day alone, law enforcement carried out nearly twenty searches in various government institutions. Among them were the offices of deputy prime ministers and other key bodies. He stated that such a situation is unprecedented in Spain’s modern history.

The opposition leader declared that the country can no longer tolerate what is happening. He noted that the actions of the police and civil guard have affected not only the government but also the party leadership, indicating a deep systemic crisis. Feijóo expressed confidence that the continued presence of the current cabinet in office would only worsen the situation.

Call for change

In his address, Feijóo called on the Prime Minister to resign and immediately call snap elections. In his view, this is the only way to halt the erosion of state institutions and restore public trust. He stressed that the current situation requires decisive action, not attempts to cover up the scandal.

Addressing the government’s allies, Feijóo called on them to stop supporting actions that, in his words, undermine the foundations of democracy. He accused them of complicity and covering up violations currently under police investigation. According to the politician, further silence and inaction will only worsen the crisis.

The leader of the Partido Popular also reached out to voters, stressing that the time has come for change. He called on all those disappointed by the government’s actions, regardless of political views, to support the opposition in the upcoming elections. Feijóo emphasized that every vote counts for the future of the country.

Regional response

Later, Feijóo visited Puebla de Alcocer, a small town in the province of Badajoz, where he continued to criticize the government’s actions. He stated that the current authorities have lost the moral right to govern the country and that corruption has infiltrated every sphere. According to him, “the system is rotten from within,” and only decisive action by citizens can change the situation.

During a meeting with residents, Feijóo stressed that the political crisis affects not only the capital but also the regions. He noted that people in Extremadura and other autonomous communities are suffering from the consequences of corrupt schemes and government inaction. The politician called on voters not to stay on the sidelines and to make their voices heard at the elections.

Feijóo also addressed supporters of the Socialist Party, urging them to reconsider their position. In his view, the current situation calls for unity among all citizens, regardless of party affiliation. He emphasized that a vote for change is a vote for Spain’s future.

Escalation of Political Tensions

The scandal involving the investigation of former Socialist Party organization secretary Santos Cerdán has become a catalyst for new accusations against the government. According to Feijóo, the authorities’ actions point to a systemic crisis that can no longer be ignored.

In recent days, public attention has focused on the actions of law enforcement, who have been conducting searches and arrests in various government institutions. This has sparked outrage among the opposition and increased pressure on the government. Feijóo insists that the only way out of the crisis is immediate elections and the formation of a new cabinet.

Political tension in the country continues to mount. The opposition is demanding transparency and accountability from the authorities, while citizens are waiting for decisive moves to restore trust in government institutions. In the coming weeks, the situation could become even more acute if the government does not respond to the opposition’s demands.
