The first days of the week in Spain delighted residents with clear skies and pleasant warmth. However, by Wednesday, the situation will change dramatically: meteorologists are warning of an approaching large-scale cyclone that will bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The changes will be especially noticeable in regions along the Mediterranean coast, where the heaviest downpours are expected.
Monday and Tuesday will still retain a calm atmosphere, but by Wednesday the weather will begin to deteriorate. Moist and warm air coming from the sea will create ideal conditions for the formation of powerful clouds and storms. In some areas of the Balearic Islands and along the coast, rainfall may be so intense that the monthly norm could fall within just a few hours.
The inland areas of the peninsula will not be spared: by the end of the week, rains will reach these regions as well, although their intensity will be somewhat lower than on the coast. As a result, most of the country will experience truly autumnal weather with a sharp drop in temperatures and increased humidity. Local authorities are advising residents to closely follow weather updates, as warnings for adverse conditions may be issued in some areas.
According to preliminary estimates, the unstable weather is expected to persist at least until the end of the week. In some areas of southeastern and eastern Spain, heavy rains may continue through Sunday. Special attention should be paid to locations where the ground is already saturated from previous rainfall, as the risk of flooding is particularly high there. As a result, the sunny and calm weather is giving way to true autumn, and residents are advised to prepare for the changing conditions.
