In Madrid, a high-profile investigation continues involving the wife of Spain’s Prime Minister. Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has refused to close the case, which features Begoña Gómez as well as several other individuals connected to the government and business sectors.
Instead of ending the proceedings, the judge decided to widen the circle of suspects. Now, the director of the Department of Technical and Legal Coordination under the government, Judith Alexandra González, has been included in the case. She is expected to appear in court on November 12 to be officially notified about the start of an investigation against her under jury court procedures.
Additionally, the judge has scheduled hearings for nine new witnesses. Among them are former vice-rector of Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Juan Carlos Doadrio, who previously provided the court with correspondence with Gómez’s adviser, and Diego de Alcázar, president of the prestigious IE Institute.
Previously, Gómez’s adviser Cristina Álvarez, government delegate Francisco Martín Aguirre, and businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés were already involved in the case. However, the judge found no grounds to close the investigation into any of them.
The investigation into this case is gaining momentum, with new details expected in the coming weeks. The court intends to question all designated witnesses by the end of November, which could bring new facts to light and potentially introduce additional suspects. Public interest in the proceedings remains high, as the case involves individuals at the very heart of the country’s political life.
