Kia Sportage 2025 Hits the Market with New Design and Technology

The revamped Sportage impresses: new features, style, and digital solutions

The 2025 Kia Sportage boasts a refreshed look and advanced technology. The model offers hybrid options and enhanced features for drivers. Find out what the revamped crossover has in store this year.

The compact SUV segment is fiercely competitive, yet the Kia Sportage continues to hold its place among the leaders. Since its debut in the 1990s, this model has undergone multiple updates in design and features to meet customer expectations. Today, the Sportage is not just a popular vehicle—it’s a true global bestseller, with over 7 million units sold.

For 2025, Kia has introduced another update specifically for the European market. The new version stands out not only with its refreshed exterior but also with an expanded range of technologies and hybrid powertrains, making the model even more versatile. The manufacturer has focused on comfort, safety, and sustainability to meet the needs of a wide variety of drivers.

Exterior and Interior

The Sportage’s design has seen significant changes: the body is now more expressive, with sharper lines throughout. The signature Tiger Nose grille looks even more striking, while the Star Map LED headlights emphasize the vehicle’s modern appeal. The new alloy wheels are offered in three sizes—17, 18, and 19 inches—allowing drivers to pick the perfect option for city driving or long journeys.

Inside, the cabin features an updated steering wheel, an ergonomic dashboard, and new trim materials. In the GT-Line version, the interior combines synthetic leather and Alcantara for a sporty feel. Special attention is paid to sustainability: the trim uses high-content recycled polyester fabrics developed in partnership with Dinamica®.

There is still plenty of space in the cabin for the whole family. The second row offers more than a meter of legroom, and the trunk volume reaches 1,776 liters with the seats folded down. This makes the Sportage an excellent choice for long trips and outdoor activities.

Technology and comfort

At the heart is the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit digital control panel. Two curved 12.3-inch screens and a head-up display on the windshield form a unified information space. All functions—from navigation to multimedia and vehicle status monitoring—are available with just a single touch.

The multimedia system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and software updates are delivered over the air. Drivers can add new features via the Feature-on-Demand platform, such as customizing the interface or launching streaming services, including YouTube, thanks to WebOS integration.

Convenience features include in-car parking payments, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five devices, and a digital key that lets you unlock and start the car with your smartphone. The Harman Kardon audio system turns the cabin into a true mini-theater, especially appreciated by music lovers on the road.

Engines and safety

The range of powertrains includes three types of hybrid systems: mild hybrid (MHEV), traditional hybrid (HEV), and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Each option is tailored to different needs, from fuel savings for city driving to the ability to travel short distances on electric power alone. The new front-wheel-drive PHEV version further expands choices for European buyers.

Enhanced aerodynamics, a lower center of gravity, and refined suspension ensure stability and a smooth ride. In the city, the Sportage feels quiet and confident, while on the highway it offers excellent handling and fuel efficiency.

Standard features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera system with 3D imaging. These technologies make every trip not only comfortable but as safe as possible.

Production and European focus

The Sportage for Europe is assembled at Kia’s plant in Žilina (Slovakia), considered one of the most advanced in the industry. Local production enables swift responses to market demands and allows the model to be tailored to European drivers’ preferences. For this generation, a specially developed wheelbase was designed to suit European roads without compromising interior space.

Eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient technologies are used in production. For example, the microfiber used for the interior upholstery is made using water-based processes and contains a high percentage of recycled materials. This approach highlights Kia’s commitment to sustainability and environmental care.

The hybrid versions of the Sportage reflect the company’s move toward electrification and emission reduction. The model is suitable both for city dwellers and for those who often travel beyond urban areas, offering an optimal balance between efficiency and performance.

Who the new Sportage is made for

The updated Sportage is a versatile crossover for families, travelers, and anyone who values modern technology. Its spacious interior, smart driver-assistance systems, and wide range of hybrid options make it appealing to a broad spectrum of buyers.

The model remains one of Kia’s top sellers, and the new generation further strengthens its position in the market. Modern design, premium materials, and digital solutions elevate the Sportage to a new level among compact SUVs.

In case you didn’t know, Kia is a South Korean car manufacturer founded in 1944. The company is part of Hyundai Motor Group and holds a leading position in the global market. The Žilina plant has been operating since 2006 and produces vehicles tailored for European consumers. The Sportage is one of the brand’s most successful models, regularly ranking among the top sellers in its segment.
