Madrid Prosecutor Reports Leire Díez’s Attempt to Contact Him

Corruption Probe Unveils Shocking Twists: Leire Díez Case and Political Ties Exposed

Prosecutor Ignacio Stampa has informed his superiors about an attempt by Leire Díez to reach out to him. Díez is under suspicion for corruption and alleged efforts to influence ongoing investigations. The case involves high-ranking officials and serious accusations.

In August 2025, Madrid prosecutor Ignacio Stampa found himself at the center of a high-profile investigation involving former socialist Leire Díez. After news broke about their private meeting, Díez made another attempt to contact the prosecutor by sending him a message. However, Stampa chose not to respond and immediately informed his supervisor to avoid any suspicion of informal contact with a subject of the case.

The investigation, led by Judge Arturo Samarriego, began this week. The main focus is a possible scheme aimed at discrediting the leadership of the anti-corruption unit and nullifying cases involving politicians and businesspeople. According to investigators, Díez may not have acted alone, but in cooperation with businessman Javier Pérez-Dolset, who is also implicated in a separate fraud case.

Several key witnesses have already testified in court: two prosecutors and a Civil Guard officer. They spoke about attempts at pressure and offers made by Díez and her circle. These included promises of employment, financial support, and even legal assistance in exchange for information or halting investigations. One prosecutor reported being offered a job abroad if he agreed to close certain cases and provide information about his supervisor.

The case materials include messenger conversations, notarial documents, and audio recordings totaling over three hours, verifying the content of meetings and negotiations. After media reports about Díez’s involvement in unofficial party affairs, Stampa completely cut off all contact with her and informed the prosecution leadership about every new attempt at communication.

Political ties and new revelations

During questioning, it emerged that Díez and Dolset repeatedly referenced senior officials, claiming they acted on behalf of the party. In particular, they mentioned Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and spoke about the need to “cleanse” the judicial and police systems. However, there is still no direct evidence of party leadership involvement in these actions.

Among other participants is former Sacyr construction company head Luis del Rivero, who allegedly arranged one of the meetings attended by Dolset and former party organizing secretary Santos Cerdán. The latter, however, denies any close ties with Díez and insists he was not involved in such negotiations.

The investigation continues with further questioning: testimony from Serdán’s lawyer, several journalists, as well as Diez, Dolset, and another journalist suspect is expected soon. The case is gaining increasing public attention, as it involves not only corruption issues but also potential influence over legal proceedings tied to politicians and major business figures.
