Toledo is preparing for significant changes in the coming years: construction will soon begin on a large-scale complex dedicated to the film industry within Parque Polvorines, located opposite the historic center. The future film city will cover an impressive 98,000 square meters, with completion scheduled for June 2026. The project is supported by European investments, which set the timeline for its implementation.
The initiative includes not only the construction of modern pavilions and filming infrastructure, but also the restoration of natural areas. About 85,000 square meters will be allocated for green spaces, with 1.5 million euros earmarked for their renewal. Another 13,000 square meters will accommodate buildings that will host facilities for film and television professionals.
Regional officials emphasize that this project will become one of the most significant for both the city and the entire autonomous region. The emergence of the film city is expected to give a major boost to creative professions and shine a spotlight on Toledo as a new hub for film production. Authorities have also announced the creation of a regional Film Academy, which will work closely with the professional community and be located at the chosen site.
The city administration is actively supporting the project, noting that Toledo has not seen initiatives of this scale for several decades. As a result, not only will the abandoned area be transformed, but a new space will also be created for residents and visitors. The film city is expected to become a hub for the region’s industry and cultural life.
