In early May, Spain will host an event with the potential to shape the country’s direction for years to come. Over four hundred young leaders, experts, and representatives from various institutions will gather at the Retos Forum to collectively seek answers to the most pressing questions of our time. The event is organized by Spain’s largest youth network, Lideremos, and the Fundación Princesa de Girona, who have joined forces to create a platform for open intergenerational dialogue.
New Formats for New Challenges
Unlike traditional conferences, the Retos Forum is built on principles of maximum engagement and flexibility. There will be no lengthy monologues or formal speeches. Instead, participants can expect dynamic round tables and parallel sessions, where everyone has a chance to contribute to shaping the agenda. This approach not only fosters the exchange of ideas but also paves the way for concrete solutions to current issues.
At the heart of the discussions will be the issues that concern Spanish society: from the housing market crisis and stagnant wages to the introduction of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity threats. Special attention will be paid to developing new skills, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating jobs for young people. Organizers believe that a fresh perspective from youth can give the country the momentum it needs for change.
Focus on Employment, Innovation, and Social Development
One of the central topics will be finding a balance between traditional professions and new opportunities created by modern technology. Participants will discuss how to prepare young people for the job market of the future, which skills will be in demand, and how the government can support young professionals. Mental health, which has become especially relevant for young Spaniards in recent years, will also play a key role.
Issues of sustainable development and the role of the media in shaping public opinion will also be in the spotlight. The forum aims not only to identify challenges but also to propose real solutions that can be put into practice. Organizers emphasize: the goal of the event is not just to talk, but to develop concrete recommendations for authorities and businesses.
Youth as the driving force of change
The Lideremos network, which now has more than 18,000 members across the country, has completed its expansion and is now seeking to unite young people in creating a unified development strategy. The Retos Forum will serve as a platform where young people can directly share their ideas with government and business representatives, as well as find like-minded peers to implement joint projects.
The Princess of Girona Foundation, specializing in supporting young talent, sees this event as a unique opportunity for generational exchange. Here, young people can not only voice their concerns but also propose solutions, drawing on the best international practices and their own initiatives.
A path to tangible results
Organizers emphasize that the Retos Forum is inspired by leading global platforms but retains its unique identity. The main goal is to turn discussions into real actions that will benefit the entire country. During the event, clear recommendations are to be developed that will form the basis for further reforms in the fields of economy, education, social policy, and innovation.
Previously, Lideremos and the Princess of Girona Foundation already collaborated on a large-scale study of youth employment in Spain. At that time, the opinions and proposals of more than 800 young people from across the country were collected. The new forum will be a logical continuation of this work, allowing not only to identify problems but also to propose concrete steps to address them.
The Retos Forum promises to be a starting point for shaping a new agenda in which youth play a key role. Spain is betting on bold ideas and is ready to listen to those who will determine its future.
