A tragedy occurred early Friday morning in a residential building in Madrid’s Villaverde district. A fire broke out in an apartment on Afecto Street, resulting in the death of a middle-aged man. The flames swept through the living room, where the apartment owner was at the time. Despite the prompt arrival of firefighters and emergency services, the man could not be saved—his death was confirmed at the scene.
The fire started around five in the morning. Two fire brigades arrived at the scene almost immediately after the call.
