The American insurance company Metlife has won the Spanish Ministry of Defense’s tender to provide insurance services for military personnel. The outcome was announced after a meticulous selection process involving the leading players in the market. Metlife managed to surpass competitors such as Generali, Mapfre Vida, and Zurich by offering the most advantageous terms in both price and coverage volume.
The contract is valued at 6.7 million euros. The new agreement covers not only standard risks such as death or disability but also introduces a range of additional options. Service members and their families will now be eligible for compensation in cases of death from any cause, full or partial loss of working ability, and severe disability incurred in the line of duty.
Special attention was given to expanding the range of services. In addition to basic payouts, the policy covers medical and orthopedic care expenses, funeral costs, as well as legal and psychological support. Among the new features are increased scholarships for children of the deceased or injured, and assistance with adapting vehicles and homes to the needs of people with disabilities.
The Ministry of Defense praised Metlife’s proposal, highlighting not only the attractive price but also the significant expansion of the list of covered insurance cases. This approach will enhance the level of social protection for military personnel and their families, as well as provide a more flexible and modern support system in challenging life situations.
