Microsoft bets on ARM: new Windows 11 build
In early November 2025, Microsoft announced the release of another test version of Windows 11, identified as 26H1. This build, numbered 28000, became available to Windows Insider Program participants through the Canary channel. However, despite its promising title, the update did not bring the widely anticipated changes for the general public.
What’s new: support for next-generation processors
The main goal of this release is to expand compatibility with upcoming ARM processors, especially Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 chips. These processors are expected to be unveiled at CES 2026. Microsoft clarified that the update contains no new features for users and is not a full update for the 25H2 version. All changes affect only the internal platform to ensure support for new hardware.

The new 26H1 build is based on the Bromine platform and, according to experts, serves as a technical foundation to support future devices rather than to introduce new features.

For users without modern ARM processors, there’s no need to switch to 26H1. The update does not impact regular system features and brings no noticeable improvements.
