The hopes of thousands of Spaniards dreaming of a big win are once again focused on the next La Primitiva draw. Thursday’s drawing, held on December 4, 2025, ended with the top prizes unclaimed, leading to another jackpot increase. None of the participants managed to guess the coveted combination of six numbers plus the ‘reintegro’ number required for the Special Category prize, nor the set of six numbers for the First Category.
This outcome has pushed the lottery’s top prize to an impressive €54 million. This figure is sure to fuel even greater interest in the next draw, as for many Spaniards, taking part in La Primitiva is more than just a game of chance—it’s a weekly ritual and a hope for life-changing fortune.
December 4 draw results
In the latest drawing, the following numbers were drawn. The main winning combination consisted of: 1, 2, 8, 12, 40, and 47. The complementary number (complementario), which determines the Second Category prize, was 23. The ‘reintegro’ number, allowing winners to reclaim their ticket price, was 0.
In addition, there was a winner in the associated El Joker game. The lucky seven-digit combination, awarding its owner €1 million, was number 9279477.
Six major prizes
Despite there being no winners in the top categories, luck still found its heroes. Six players managed to guess five main numbers plus the additional number, qualifying for the second prize tier. Each of them will receive a substantial payout of €35,020.
The winnings were spread widely across Spain, covering several regions. Lucky tickets were registered at lottery sales points in Vitoria (Basque Country), the Balearic Islands, and in the provinces of Cáceres (Extremadura), Huelva (Andalusia), Murcia, and Navarra.
Participation rules and prizes
Anyone can take part in La Primitiva. Draws are held three times a week: on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. To play, you must choose six numbers from 1 to 49. Each bet costs one euro. When you buy a ticket, the system automatically assigns a reintegro number (from 0 to 9).
The prize fund is divided into several categories. The top prize (Categoría Especial) goes to the player who matches all six numbers plus the reintegro. Next are prizes for six numbers, five numbers plus the additional, five numbers, four, three, as well as a stake refund if the reintegro number matches. For an extra euro, you can activate the Joker option, which gives a chance to win one million euros.
RUSSPAIN Reference. La Primitiva is rightfully considered one of the oldest lotteries in the world, with its history beginning in Spain back in the 18th century. The first draw was held on December 10, 1763, during the reign of Carlos III. The initiative came from the Marquis de Esquilache, the Minister of Finance, who proposed this method of replenishing the state treasury without increasing the tax burden on the population. Over its long history, the lottery has seen periods of decline and changes in format, but in its current form it was relaunched in 1985. Since then, it has become an integral part of Spanish life and remains one of the country’s most popular and widespread games of chance.
